GRWM, Featuring Supercrush and Single Serve Hot Cocoa
๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐กing it this morning with fuss-free hair (for once in my life) and single serve hot cocoa (for the second time today).
Okay, but seriously, who else needs a comfort beverage while getting ready for the day (and to get through the day, itself)? I swear if I donโt have a drink beside me while getting ready, I feel like I might as well be short an article of clothing (and not because itโs hot out). Yes, I know, I probably sound HM af, but hey, sometimes thatโs just how I get through the day (as what my sister would call a โstay at home bombโ). In fact, most days, it looks like a bomb went off in my hairโฆ However, Iโm ready to put some of those days behind me, thanks to ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก.
If youโre uncertain as to what Iโm referring to, ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก is a woman-led, Vancouver based brand, that carries a variety of comfortable and stylish hair accessories. I stumbled upon them by accident when I went to stock up on baking ingredients from Organic Acres market. I had all 3 kids in tow, hair a mess, and as I went to grab some cocoa powder, a different kind of powder โfellโ (according to my 5 year old) off the shelf in the next aisle over. When I went to pick it up, I saw that it was dry shampoo, then sparked up a convo about it with the lady at the till. From clean ingredients to supporting local, I was sold. Plus, it saved me the headache of having to go to Shoppers to search for the lesser evil of dry shampoo. If you know, you know.
So far, Iโm really pleased with this brand. I even went back to pick up some of their hair accessories. So in honour of good hair stuff, supporting local, and the cocoa powder that led me to this new discovery, Iโve decided to share what Iโm loving from ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก, with an easy recipe for ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐จ๐ to follow.
First, the hair stuffโฆ
๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐จ
This stuff is basically like cocoa powder, but for the hair and I love it. I typically wash my hair every second day, as I have naturally oily hair (as seen below), but when I donโt have the time, I rely heavily on dry shampoo. However, most of the ones Iโve tried either donโt last long, have questionable ingredients, and/or leave a gross film on my hair. Until ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก came around, I had never tried a dry shamp that I could genuinely say I loved. Not only does their powder prevent me from looking like a total greaser (as seen below), it also provides mega volume. All it takes is a couple of sprinkles and no one would know that I didnโt wash my hair that day. A little goes a long way with it too, as Iโve only used up about half the amount in 3 months time.
Btw, I got mine in dark, but they make one for light / blonde hair as well.

From what Iโve been told, ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก is better known for their scrunchies and I can definitely understand why. I donโt think Iโve ever owned a scrunchie that has stayed in my hair without having to stretch the living hell out of it, all for it to cause nothing but pain and breakage. This scrunchie, thankfully, does NONE of that. In fact it does the complete opposite โ one easy twist around and itโs secured for the day, and zero (literal and figurative) headaches to go with it. I got mine in blush to match the majority of my wardrobe, but they have many colours and styles to choose from.

Much like hair scrunchies, hair clips have been a major problem for me for as long as I can remember. Whether theyโre pinching, breaking, and/or falling out, thereโs always an issue. These demi claw clips, however, are very secure, ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ซ comfy, and are perfect for getting hair up and out of the face, especially for short-med length. If you have really thick and/or long hair though and are going for a full up-do, Iโd recommend getting one of their larger clips, as they are realistically more functional for those hair types.
I got a total of 2 demi clips in pearl, and picked up a matching comb to go with them (I couldnโt resist).
Okay, now for the hot cocoaโฆ
All too often Iโve been disappointed with store bought hot cocoa mixes. They taste more like watered down sugar milk with a hint of chocolate flavouring. The single serve mix I make (below) uses local, good quality, (mostly) organic ingredients, and has the ratios down pat for a delicious, flavourful, rich cup of hot cocoa.

Ingredients:
. 2 tbsp cocoa powder
. 1 tbsp (cane) sugar
. 1/8 tsp salt
. 1 cup steamed milk (or cream)
. 1/8 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Add cocoa powder, sugar and salt in mug of choice. Stir well. I use Caminoโs organic cocoa powder for a more bold and rich flavour, but any good quality cocoa powder will do.
If you wish to add a dusting of cocoa powder on top, take 1 tsp of the dry mix and place aside in a small sieve.
Steam milk (or cream) in carafe or on stovetop until hot and frothy, then pour into mug. I prefer to use half & half by Island Farms for a more balanced sip. However, any kind of milk or cream will work. It all depends on what you like best.
Add in vanilla in and stir everything together.
Dust the surface of the hot cocoa with the dry mix set aside from earlier (optional, but highly recommended).
Sip and appreciate while getting ready for the day, winding down for the day, or finding any moment in the day to simply just relax.
Hope you all found something to enjoy about this post! Cheers to good quality ingredients (and accessories)!!
