Birthday Week Desserts — Featuring Sweets From Starbucks and Whole Foods
This year, I decided it wasn’t my birthday until I got my free drink from my favourite Starbs and customized it like the annoying little Starbucks loving b*tch I am. And to celebrate one week into 31, I’m going to share what I ordered (with an extra side of dessert).
From Starbucks:
Venti “Matcha” Frappuccino
* half sweet with oat milk and light whip
+ 2 scoops of Vanilla Bean Powder *
So yeah, I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m THAT b*tch in the Starbucks line with the drink customizations. I mean I figure if I’m going to regularly spend upward of $7.00 for a drink, I might as well go all out, and even more so on my birthday.
Now, I don’t know how authentic Starbucks’ “Matcha” powder is, but it’s been my go-to for a while. The original (without customizations) is far too sweet for me though, so I always get half sweet. I also opted for oat milk, because it’s easier on my stomach, plus I like the taste better and they use my favourite Barista Blend by Earth’s Own. As for the vanilla bean powder and light whip, that’s not something I always do, but I just felt like being a little extra for the occasion. The vanilla bean powder makes for a creamier taste, almost like a milkshake, and I like to think the light whip is the icing on the cake, without being overly indulgent. You know, whatever helps me sleep at night.
But wait, that’s not all… I also ordered a Birthday Cake Pop, because it‘s the closest thing to birthday cake that Starbucks has. And since I already basically ordered a dessert in drink form, the smaller size seemed fitting. Not to mention I had to make room for more cake later…
Okay, so while I didn’t go grocery shopping after, my mother-in-law certainly did, and while she was at it, she decided to bring home Strawberry Shortcake and vanilla bean ice-cream from Whole Foods to further celebrate over the weekend. If you haven’t tried a WF cake, I highly recommend giving it a go! The Strawberry is one of my faves from there, as it tastes equally as pretty as it looks.
Well that about wraps it up for the Birthday desserts. Don’t even get me started about dinner… I know I’m all about the sweets, but I kind of want to do a segment on savoury sometime soon. Thoughts??
