Mulberry Frames and Photochromic Lenses (Zenni Optical Unboxing)
Just under two years ago, I broke the only pair of glasses I had at the time (both lenses and stemware). Needless to say, I needed another pair (or 2), and while I never did get new wine glasses, I did get two pairs of eye glasses from Zenni Optical, because I knew I needed to order something that wasn’t going to break or break the bank. This brought me to my very first Zenni unboxing, and because it was so much fun, I figured, why not do it again (with a few upgrades).
Now, normally I would order more than one pair, but since my other two pairs from Zenni are still holding up, I really only needed one more pair this time around. Tell that to the 50+ pairs that were left in my online cart… Honestly though, I just needed a change. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
If you’ve ordered from Zenni before, you know they come with these cute little pamphlets on how to care for your glasses. One upgrade since the last time I ordered, is that they now come with a PD ruler for measuring your pupillary distance (the distance between the centers of your pupils). This measurement is used to determine where you look through the lenses of your glasses. More info on this can be found on Zenni’s website.
As you can see, my order also came with this microfibre cloth, which works wonders for cleaning! However, I got some other upgrades to prevent my glasses from scratching, fogging, etc. Because let’s be honest, there is nothing more annoying than trying to see through scratched or foggy lenses. I mean, it basically defeats the purpose of wearing glasses.
In addition to the scratch and fog resistant coatings, I also got blue light blockers added and opted for photochromic lenses.
At first, I was sceptical on the blue light blockers, because of how overly hyped up they are, but last time I ordered from Zenni, I decided to see for myself. While I still don’t know if they provide extra protection to your eyes overall, I have noticed a major difference when wearing them while using my iPhone or iPad. Brightness levels can only do so much, and I find blue light blocking lenses have deceased the amount of eye strain and even headaches during screen use.
As for the photochromic lenses, I hesitantly opted out last time and not long after, I wished I had just got them. For those who are unfamiliar with photochromic lenses, they are lenses that darken in the sunlight and lighten back up in the dark. So basically, they convert into sunglasses when you’re outside during the day, and the sunnier it is, the darker the tint gets. This has been one of my favourite upgrades, as I don’t currently own prescription sunglasses.
I should also mention the frame shape I got (as seen above). I decided on geometric frames and got them in the colour Mulberry, which I love. The product number these is 2034617.
And of course, with every frame, a pretty case is needed (seen below). While Zenni already comes with a case for each pair of frames you order, there are better quality ones available on their site, in an array of different styles and colours. I got the tri-folding case in the colour cream with the classic Zenni blue on the inside. This is the same case I got for both of my frames on my last order as well. Highly recommend!
Well, that about wraps it up for this unboxing. I’m off to go craft a ”cocktail” now… Because as someone once told me, “crafting a cocktail is a lot cooler when you can read the recipe and see what the f*ck you’re doing.”
For the record, I’m near-sighted, but nonetheless, it’s nice to have new glasses to see all the things. Plus the frames just so happen to match the stemless tumbler I got in replacement of the wine glasses I mentioned earlier. More on that another time though.
